More and more schools are adopting the Healthy School project.

This is an old post.

ORANJESTAD – The Healthy School program is part of the National Plan for Non-communicable Diseases Prevention.

This integral plan started in 2020 but stopped temporarily due to the pandemic. Once the pandemic was over, the Ministry of Public Health accelerated the restart of this program.

Three ministries provide financial support to this program, which focuses on creating a healthful lifestyle and thus implementing a healthy eating routine for school children.

Healthy School focuses not only on physical health but also on mental health, movement, and the overall well-being of the children. The healthier a child is, the more productive they are in life. Prevention is crucial to achieving a sustainable AZV (General Health Insurance) in the future, and to make this possible, we must start with our children. Meanwhile, the program is receiving increasing support from participating schools, with 15 schools already adopting the Healthy School program.

The Ministry of Public Health is very grateful to the Department of Public Health / Youth Health Care, the Department of Social Affairs, SKOA, SPCOA, IPA, DPS, and GSA for their participation. The goal is for all schools to adopt the Healthy School program.
