Labor Force Survey 2024
ORANJESTAD - Starting October 15, 2024, the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), together with the Department of Labor and Research (DAO) and the Central Bank of Aruba (CBA), will conduct the 2024 Labor Force Survey (EFL2024).
The EFL2024 aims to provide a detailed and current overview of Aruba's labor market. It will also collect information on the characteristics of people who participate and those who do not participate in the labor market. In this way, they can make an in-depth analysis of the composition of Aruba's labor market and compile essential indicators, such as the employment and unemployment rate in Aruba, the degree of participation of men and women in the labor market, and the level of education of those who are employed and not employed.
Telephone survey
Households that participated in the 2020 Census and the last EFLs and indicated they would like to continue cooperating with CBS surveys will receive a call from a surveyor(s). The survey team will contact households by telephone on weekdays and weekends between 12 noon and 8 pm.
The EFL2024 questionnaire
At the beginning of the questionnaire, they will ask basic questions to everyone in the household. Next follows specific questions about the workforce. These questions will only be asked to people 15 years and older. According to the International Labor Organization (ILO), anyone 15 years and older is part of a country's labor force. All persons aged 15 or over need to participate in the survey, including employed, unemployed, or inactive persons in the labor market (for example, because they are children going to school or retired older adults. This way they get a complete view of who is part of the Aruba's labor force.
The questionnaire includes questions about education, function, industry employment, working hours, and other labor market-related subjects. This year, there will be additional questions about workplace safety, career advancement prospects, and job content.
Privacy
It should be emphasized that all information will be processed anonymously and will be published only in aggregate form. The aggregated data will help those in charge of stipulating and implementing labor policies to do so more effectively by using current data from Aruba.
This information on the most recent developments in Aruba's labor market is also essential for those in the private sector, education and research sector, and the general public.
The research team (CBS, DAO, and CBA) guarantees the privacy of each household and person participating in EFL2024. The information collected will provide a complete view of Aruba's labor market current developments. Therefore, the participation of every household and every person approached by our team of surveyors is essential!
